Welcome to the Amazing Journey Blog Hoppers Hop! This month’s theme is Faith Journey. I'm so happy you're hoppin' along! If you arrived here from
Kim’s blog, you're on the right track. If not, that's ok too! Just continue the hop and you'll come full circle!
Bible Journaling. I am in love. I think this is a fantastic way to get into your Bible.
These are the steps I follow:
1. Pray first that God would open your eyes and ears and heart to the words you will be reading.
2. Read the passage you have chosen, then re-read and re-read again :)
3. Choose the specific verse or passage you'd like to highlight with an image or with writing.
4. Stamp, color, draw, write away.
Fun Stampers Journey has quite a few Bible specific stamp sets plus so many others that will find their way into your Bible as you dig in. I used one of the new sets in the big Fun Stampers Journey Inspiration Catalog called God is Light plus the Autumn Leaves set from the nature section. By picking up the God is Light set, you've already got the jumping off point to at least 5 different pages you can spend time in.
Journey Gesso (which is white) was brushed on the journaling column of the page first so that any inks that I use won't bleed through to the back side. Because I'm not patient, I used a heat gun to carefully dry the page. Then I mixed the Beach Breeze, Whip Cream and Journey Blender Solution and brushed it around the "sky" area using a blending brush. Sweet Pear, Whip Cream and Journey Blender was mixed and used for the "grassy" area. Again, the heat tool was used to dry up the ink....oh, the lack of patience here ;) So the words wouldn't get covered up too much, I used matching pan pastels and wiped off any excess with paper towel instead of the ink I used on the side column.
The lettering was done by hand using a Black Copic marker - the brush end. This takes lots of practice and I am really just starting so only do a little. Heavy handed on the downstroke of a letter, light handed on the upstroke is the way these are supposed to take their shape. Always something new to learn...love it! The rest of the lettering was done using a Pitt Black Brush Pen. The oak leaves (info on why I used this is found in this 24th chapter of Joshua) were then stamped around using a Green Olive Ink Pad.
IMPORTANT!!!! Always allow your page to completely dry before closing your Bible. You don't want your pages to stick together and tear the pages and ruin your artwork.
Give it a try and enjoy your own Faith Journey!!
Thank you for stopping by today, be sure to head to
Betsye’s blog next.
As for me and my house, we will serve The Lord.
